Once again the Winchmore Hill Memorial Hall will host the annual Village Show in 2018. Hundreds of entries expected across many Classes and three main Divisions: Produce, Cookery & Art. An entry form is available to download if you missed the copy in your mailbox.
The Produce, Arts and Crafts Show takes place in the Memorial Hall as part of the Village Show. The Hall will be open for produce show entries from 5.30pm – 8.30pm on the evening before the show (Friday 31st August) and from 8 – 9.15am on the show day. Cake entries should come to hall in time to allow baking to cool.
Please note your postcode on your entry slip this time to show you’re a member of the village. Judging starts promptly at 10am and there will be an auction of all the entries at the end of the day to cover the costs and raises money for the Village.
As well as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placings in each class, a Produce Cup is awarded for the highest number of placings in each fresh produce class, a Silver Tray is awarded for the highest number of placings in the cookery class and a shield is awarded to the best overall photograph.
Cups, rosettes and gift vouchers go to the children’s sections (5 years and under, 6-10 years and 11-15 years) so please encourage lots of entries from all age groups so we can award as many prizes possible. Long-standing resident Alison Bayley has kindly donated a special cup for the children’s category and the Frank Johnson Shield is awarded to the best entry chosen by Iris Johnson, in memory of our former Village Postmaster.
As they were so successful last year, we will be running special children’s workshops again. These are in three age groups and the art and craft work that the children produce forms a super display for the show.
